Yoko Saito
The alluring details and excepting craftsmanship of her work are exquisite. She does all of her work by hand. What appears at first glance to be printed fabric is actually layer upon layer of fine appliqué. The movement and shading of individual pieces is often achieved by fussy-cutting individual elements to best showcase the print on the fabric. The interplay of color, value, tint, and shade results in an endless array of subtle yet striking imagery.
